SUPPORTING LOCAL

Supporting local, means you care about the community you live in.  And, we do!

Each step of our supply chain is carefully selected to ensure we support local Australian businesses, aiding in improving the local economy… (and of course, helping support the dream).

At Bec Boyle, we guarantee you a product that is the real deal. A reliable purchase, that will promise you quality. Everything at Bec Boyle, from the design concepts – through to fabric & trim purchasing, fabric printing, garment manufacturing and packaging is ethically designed, made and completed onshore via Australian owned and operated businesses.

MANUFACTURING

We at Bec Boyle are thrilled to be able to support and work alongside an incredible team of local experts that help manufacture and bring life to our garments.

Given their long, industry awarded and celebrated list of accreditations, there was no questioning why we chose to work with them.

Some of these included are –

  • ECA - Ethical Clothing Australia (ECA) is an accreditation body working collaboratively with local textile, clothing and footwear (TCF) companies to ensure their Australian supply chains are transparent and legally compliant.

  • CARBON NEUTRAL - The Carbon Trust accreditation mark provides independent verification and certification services that recognise real achievements in sustainability. Having developed the world’s first certification for organisational CO2e and product carbon footprints, the Carbon Trust is the leading footprint certification body for carbon, water & waste, and is accredited by the UK Accreditation Service (UKAS) to ISO 14065:2013 to provide greenhouse gas verification against PAS 2050 and the Code of Good Practice.

  • GOTS - The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.

  • FAIRTRADE - Fairtrade is about stable prices, decent working conditions and the empowerment of farmers and workers around the world.  The standards include protection of workers’ rights and the protection of children, the preservation of the environment, payment of the Fairtrade Minimum Price and an additional Fairtrade Premium to invest in initiatives to support local communities or business development.

PACKAGING

Clothing

Do you dislike ordering new clothes that are shrouded in plastic packaging, leaving you with excess waste? At Bec Boyle, every garment is hand pressed, folded and placed in a clear 100% degradable bag, ready for their first wear.

Mailers

Bec Boyle ships all orders with compostable mailers. These are made from a combination of PBAT, a bio based polymer which is compostable, and PLA which is made up of plant materials such as regular field corn and wheat straw. The use of PLA makes up barely 0.05% of the annual global corn crop, making it an incredibly low-impact resource.

The bags are certified by all three industry certifiers; TUV Austria, BPI and Dincerto, meeting American, European, International and Australian standards – including certifications for your domestic home compost. To gain these certifications, the product must break down within 90 days in commercial compost and 180 days in domestic compost conditions, including worm farm compost. After degradation, they must leave no harmful residues behind.

Stickers

Bec Boyle uses sustainable, custom paper stickers in their packaging. With a matte finish and full color printing, our paper stickers meet the following certifications:

FSC Certified

The FSC or Forest Stewardship Council certifies that the paper products that make up the custom printed stickers are sourced from a forest and supply chain that is managed responsibly and sustainably. FSC forest management standards are developed at an international level, and are then adapted to individual countries’ legal, social, and geographical settings, through national standards.

Acid Free Paper

Our paper stickers are made from cellulose fiber where the active acid pulp is eliminated during processing. The pulp is also lignin- and sulfur-free, meaning that our ink won’t transfer from the stickers and the paper won’t leave behind any of these chemicals when decomposing.

Soy-based Inks

Soy inks are an eco-friendly alternative to petroleum-based inks, made from soybeans, a renewable resource. While soy inks are slower to dry than many inks, the process produces more vibrant colors as well as having the added benefit of not leaving behind petroleum based products when decomposing. Finally, soy inks have low levels of VOCs, reducing air pollution during the drying process.

Eco Packaging Alliance

Being a member means plenty of things, but most importantly it's a connection to and validation of our sustainability efforts.
